The Ice Hotel is situated on the shores of the Torne River, in the old village of Jukkasjärvi 200 km north of the Arctic Circle.
Every year, 10 000 tons of crystal clear ice from the ‘ice manufacturing plant', the Torne River, and 30 000 tons of pure snow are used to build the hotel. It sleeps over 100 guests and every bedroom is unique. Covering more than 30,000 square feet, the Ice Hotel includes an Ice Chapel, an ice art exhibition hall, a cinema and the world famous ‘Absolut Ice Bar'.
After your private jet lands at Kiruna Airport, you will be met by your Dog Sled driver and provided with warm outer clothing for your one and a half hour transfer to the Ice Hotel.
The temperature in the hotel varies between -4 and -9 degrees centigrade, depending on the temperature outside and the number of overnight guests.
In your Ice Suite, a unique room decorated with ice art and ice sculptures, you sleep in a thermal sleeping bag (made by Fjällräven) on a special bed of snow and ice, covered with reindeer skins. In the morning a hot drink will be brought to you, after which you can enjoy an early morning sauna followed by breakfast.
Should you wish to stay for two nights and enjoy activities such as ice sculpting, snow shoe excursions, cross country skiing, Moose Safaris, or try to see the Northern Lights, your second night will be spent in a warm Nordic Chalet. Your return to the airport will be by snow mobile.
